Here are some more of the literacy activities we did throughout the week:

READ, WRITE, STAMP

This activity has students reading farm animal words, tracing the letters of the words, and stamping the letters.

The stamping book can be found here.

SIGHT WORD ACTIVITIES

Students used letter tiles to spell words from the story.
The word cards can be found here.

They put together sight word puzzles featuring Mrs. Wishy-Washy & her tin tub.
The sight word puzzles can be found here.

They also assembled Christmas tree sight word puzzles.

WISHY-WASHY MAZES

There are four different mazes, which can be found here.

WISHY-WASHY COLOR BY NUMBER

Color-by-number is found here.

WRITING CENTER

We used Wishy-Washy stationery in the Writing Center, found here.
All of the above activities, and many more, can be found at Making Learning Fun.

WISHY-WASHY NUMBER GAME

I put numeral flash cards on my pocket chart.
{This lesson focused on recognition of numerals 1-20}.

Pictures of items from the story are hidden behind random numbers on the chart. The pictures I hid are
A Wishy-Washy twist on Fran's Thanksgiving activity.

Students came up to the chart, pointed to a number, and said the number aloud. If they correctly identified it, they got to take the number off of the pocket chart & see if anything was hiding behind their card. The students felt so lucky when they found a picture behind their card! The "winner" was the student who found Mrs. Wishy-Washy.

SIGHT WORD STORY

A great little Christmas-themed sight word book, used to introduce the word "it". It builds on previously learned words "is" and "a".
It is from Hubbard's Cupboard, and can be found here.

  6. I love your activities! I just finished a 3 week unit on the gingerbread man. My colleagues thought I was nuts when I said I would do G'man for 3 weeks--they couldn't imagine how I could keep it "fresh" and interesting for that long (kindergarten). But my kids loved it, and by the end of the unit, I didn't have to ask them what was different/same with each story--they were in a rush to let me know!

I am a new follower to your blog, and I love what I see! I wish I had the idea of the neat gingerbread house chart--they would have loved it....there's always next year!
