Year-Long Learning Centers for Kindergarten

I have been looking over my math and literacy activities and realize I work way too hard! After reading some very wise words from Michelle at Inspired by Kindergarten, I started to rethink how I do my activities.

I have been introducing NEW activities all the time. I love how Michelle changes out her centers but the concept of each one is the same. Which means less time for instruction and more time for active learning! [See her first post {here}, then keep reading for more!]
A full year of Kindergarten Literacy Centers, spiraled through 5 domains of reading, sight words and word work, alphabet learning with phonics and phonemic awareness activities, listening to reading, and writing. Packed with fun ideas and hands on activities that will cover your entire year of literacy centers. #kindergarten #literacy #literacycenters #kindergartencenters #sightwords #wordwork #alphabet #phonics #phonemicawareness #reading #listentoreading #daily5 #centers #writing
I will still switch out new centers for some of them, but I've decided that some will also be constants throughout the year. They will be switched as far as theme/season/holiday, but not by concept.

I have created year long literacy centers for Kindergarten. The activities spiral, meaning that they build on one another. This saves explaining new concepts with every center change!
The activities include
-writing centers
-listening centers
-reading centers
-alphabet & phonics centers
-phonemic awareness centers
-names centers
-word work centers

In this pack there are 13 sets to take us through the year! Students will have fun expanding their vocabulary, practicing their handwriting skills, and matching numbers. Each student will use a Write the Room page, clipboard, and pencil to search around the room for picture cards, then print the words onto their papers beside each corresponding number.
Active learning is AWESOME!

Hooray for the time-saving simplicity of year long centers :)

  1. Write the Rooms are THE best...any excuse to be up and moving around the classroom, right?! :)
