Literacy Center Activities for Kindergarten | FREE Syllable Sorting Activity

Literacy center activities for Kindergarten
Here are the literacy work stations we have been doing lately:

SYLLABLE SORTING

FREE Syllable activities- perfect as a literacy center in Kindergarten!
Students are practicing their syllable skills...wearing 'clapping gloves'.

The gloves make the activity FUN, and keeps the clapping quiet :)
They take turns drawing a card, clapping the word together as a group, then putting it on the correct syllable mat.

Because the cards don't have words for them to copy, students are choosing one picture per category & drawing it in the corresponding box.
This activity has been updated since this post, and is a FREE DOWNLOAD!

LISTENING CENTER

Winter Literacy Work Stations for Kindergarten
We are currently doing The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats.
They listen to the story, then fill in a student response form:

WINTER WRITE THE ROOM

I 'hid' winter words around the classroom, numbered from 1-10.

When they find a word, they print it beside the corresponding number.

  1. That syllable counting station looks adorable. I love the glove idea! Is this an activity that you have available somewhere? I would love to use it in my clasroom.
