Favorite Easter Books for Kids

A list of favorite Easter themed books for kids in PreK, Kindergarten, First Grade, and Second Grade.
JAN BRETT'S THE EASTER EGG
Jan Brett is a well-known and loved author known for wonderful storytelling and beautiful pictures! This Easter story follows Hoppi on his quest to design the winning Easter egg, so that he will be chosen to assist the Easter Rabbit!

THE PARABLE OF THE LILY
If you teach in a religious school, like me, you might choose to focus on a Christian themed Easter story. This book by Liz Curtis Higgs shares the Easter story as a parable.
I have made a companion pack to go along with this book {here}
KEVIN HENKES' EGG
 Kevin Henkes just released his 50th book, and it's called EGG. This sweet book is full of fun surprises!
This book study companion pack supplements the story!

THE EASTER BUNNY'S ASSISTANT
 Students always crack up when we read The Easter Bunny's Assistant. That's because the assistant is a skunk, and when he gets excited...well he creates quite a stink :)

THERE WAS AN OLD LADY WHO SWALLOWED A CHICK
 Of course Lucille Colandro has an 'old lady' book for every occasion, and this is her Easter version!
I made a pack that actually goes with every book in the series!

JUNIE B. JONES, FIRST GRADER
DUMB BUNNY
If your kids are ready for chapter books, this one is fun for them to read or as a class read aloud. Junie B. Jones is invited to an Easter party...and we'll leave the rest for you to find out!

Poetry Month!

April is Poetry Month!
It's a unique genre to have students read. It also involves the introduction of different formats in student writing activities.
I have created this poetry pack that introduces students {Grades 2-6} to 10 different types of poems, and includes formats on how to write them!
POETRY TYPES INCLUDE:
Acrostic Poems
Diamante Poems
Haikus
Quinzaine Poems
Rhyming Pairs
Cinquain Poems
Alliteration Poetry
Onomatopoeia Poems
Repeated Words Poems
Cut & Paste Poems

Graphic organizers help students to organize their thoughts and make sure they have all of the required components included.
Here they are peer editing, see them counting to make sure there are enough syllables in each sentence? :)
Writing pages include space for illustrations and a header for their poem's title.

You can find it all {here}
