After reading the story together, we fill in some facts about the story, using a story map. We discuss the characters, and define them by their character traits.
We fill out these pages before we find out who took the painting. Students make their inferences based on facts from the text.

Next we made some text-to-self connections and became familiar with some vocabulary from the story's text. We also made some personal story notes...and we solved the mystery!
