All About Me Theme

In March our theme has been 'All About Me'.
We know that we are all created uniquely. Through this unit students have come to realize that there are aspects of their lives that are the same as others as well as different from others.

Various topics were covered in this unit, including: me, my family, my home, my friends, my favorite food, book, game, thing to do, what I'd like to be when I grow up, etc.
Here are some pictures from the student workbook we did. My booklet is the illustration-only version. Students tell the class about their pages after the lesson, and this helps develop their oral skills {and holds them accountable for their illustrations too!} A little pic at the top indicates what page we are working on, which is very helpful :) These are various samples from several students:

I cannot get over how early Easter is this year! It will be here before we know it.

Here is an Easter math & literacy pack I have just posted.
I am so egg-cited about it! {sorry about that}
Easter Math & Literacy Activities for Kindergarten

It contains TONS of fun math and literacy skill learning.
Seriously, your students won't even realize they are learning as they play!

Here's a sneak peek of a few of the activities:

There's LOTS more that I can't possibly show. Did I mention there are 124 pages?
And that it is currently on sale? But only until March 31, 2013.

More Dr. Seuss Fun

Dr. Seuss Day! A wrap up to our Dr. Seuss unit in Kindergarten in March.
Each year, to wrap up our Dr. Seuss unit, I invite parents to come to our classroom to participate in various Dr. Seuss activities with their Kindergarten child.

I set up several stations around the classroom that they could choose from. The event lasts for an hour, and they rotate through as many centers as they like.

Students played alphabet Bingo against their parents.

ONE FISH, TWO FISH ESTIMATION
Students had to estimate how many fish would fit into the fishbowl without overlapping. They then tried it out to see how close their estimate was to the actual number of fish that fit inside.

I found this magnetic set at Zellers several years ago when the Cat in the Hat movie came out in theatres. Students use the magnets to recreate scenes from the book.
